Camp Coach
Brandon Tormoehlen-Assistant Baseball Coach at Creighton University
Brandon Tormoehlen enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Creighton Baseball program. Creighton University is one of the top baseball programs in the Midwest; each year there squads finish in the top 5 in the country in team defense. His on the field duties will include coaching the catchers as well as assisting with the pitchers and hitters. During games, he will serve as the team’s first base coach. Off the field, he will assist with on-campus recruiting as well as other day to day baseball operations.
In the summer of 2009, Tormoehlen was the head coach of the Grand Lake Mariners of the Great Lakes Collegiate Summer League. His Mariners finished the season with a 25-10 mark, good enough for 2nd place in the league. He also led the Blue Team to a victory in the leagues all-star game.
In the 2008-2009 school year, Brandon was an assistant coach at Indiana Tech, a NAIA program in Fort Wayne, Ind. There he coached the hitters as well as the catchers and outfielders. Off the field, he was in charge of the team’s strength and conditioning program along with coordinating team travel arrangements and recruiting.
Prior to Fort Wayne, Tormoehlen spent two seasons as a high-school JV coach. He coached for Noblesville HS in the 2007-2008 season and Bishop Chatard HS in the 2005-2006 season. During the summers of 2007 and 2008, he was a head coach in the Indiana Bulls Baseball Organization; one of the nation’s premier amateur travel baseball organizations.
Tormoehlen played his collegiate ball at Butler University under Head Coach Steve Farley. He saw action behind the plate as the team’s starting catcher for the 2004 and 2005 seasons; but a torn labrum sidelined him for his 2006 senior year. After a successful rehab of his throwing shoulder, he was able to get back to action as a role player on the 2007 squad. During his career he compiled a .972 fielding percentage.
Brandon graduated valedictorian from Brownstown Central High School in Brownstown, Ind., and graduated from Butler University in 2006 with a degree in Secondary Education. He spent two years in the classroom teaching high school mathematics before moving to Omaha, where he currently resides.
